Clinical case of intravenouse leiomyomatosis
Abstract
Intravenous leiomyomatosis is the rare benign mesenchymal tumor originating from the smooth muscle of the uterus, capable of intravascular growth within the veins. It is characterized by the growth of benign leiomyoma in the walls of the intrauterine and extrauterine veins, which leads to the formation of tumor thrombi that can reach the inferior vena cava, as well as the right chambers of the heart and pulmonary artery, which in some cases can be fatal. According to the literature, less than 500 cases of this disease have been described worldwide. This article presents a clinical case of management of a patient with intravenous leiomyomatosis in a hospital of the Almazov National Research Medical Center. The presented clinical observation highlights the presence of diverse clinical manifestations and the complexity of diagnosing intravenous leiomyomatosis. According to the literature data in this moment less than 500 cases of this injury were described. In this article the clinical case of female patient with intravenous leiomyomatosis was presented in Federal State Budgetary Institution “V.A. Almazov National Medical Research Center” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The presented clinical observation highlights the presence of diverse clinical manifestations and the complexity of diagnosing intravenous leiomyomatosis.
