Abstract

At present, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the most widespread chronic liver diseases among the adult population. The number of patients with this diagnosis continues to increase in parallel with the rising prevalence of obesity. Pregnant women are no exception and are also affected by this disease, with its incidence continuing to grow. NAFLD is one of the risk factors for the development of diseases and complications affecting both the mother and the fetus during this period of a woman’s life. This review article provides information about the most common and potential predictors of such complications. Undoubtedly, further studies of current markers, as well as the search for new ones associated with a higher risk of pregnancy complications in women with NAFLD, are required.
