POSSIBILITIES OF MULTICOMPONENT PSYCHOTHERAPY IN IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME: THE CLINICAL CASE
Abstract
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common gastroenterological diseases and is characterized by a pronounced decrease of patients’ quality of life and often insufficient effectiveness of drug therapy. The significant pathogenetic role of the unfavorable psycho-emotional background accompanying the course of this disease allows us to consider the inclusion of psychotherapy methods in the treatment of IBS as an important aspect of treatment within the framework of complex therapy of this pathology. The article presents a clinical case of the multicomponent psychotherapy treatment based on regressive hypnotherapy in the complex management of a patient with the background of insufficient effectiveness of standard drug therapy and a pronounced psycho-emotional component in the patient’s perception of his disease.
